Gosport Half Marathon

Well, completed the Gosport Half in 2hr 22 mins, cramp kicked in after the 10 mile marker and for the last 3 miles I had to take it really easy. I was on time for 10 min miles and a finishing time of 2hr 10 but the cramp killed my calfs and having to stop very minute to strech out slows you down.

Overal the event was well organised and a good morning out, found a nice cafe on the sea front had a coffee and a final visit to the toilet then off to the start.

Found my running partner for this event (Tracy) and we managed to keep the 10mm pace right up to 10m when I told her to run ahead. Got a goody bag and a medal at then and a painfull journy home.

Ironman Wales Sun Sept 11th 2011

Well i have just signed up for my first ironman, yes i know what your saying I'm mad. If you don't know what an ironman is then hear is an insight to what I'm doing.

An Ironman Triathlon is one of a series of long-distance triathlon races organized by the World Triathlon Corporation (WTC) consisting of a 2.4-mile (3.86 km) swim, a 112-mile (180.25 km) bike and a marathon (26.2 miles 42.195 km) run, raced in that order and without a break. Most Ironman events have a strict time limit of 17 hours to complete the race.

So there you have it, its official I'M MAD. Just after signing up done a training run of 6 miles and came back with shooting pains in the knee, not a good start.

Follow my story of my training and first ironman experience over the coming months.
