Work and Manflu

The last two weeks Ive not been able to train due to work and a cold. I have managed a few swim visits but nothing too much. I am starting a 6 week course next friday with the tri club so thats 6am at the pool which is about 40mins away. Have a quiet week coming up so will look at picking the swimming up and maybe some runs, if it warms up the mountain bike will be coming out for a few hours. I have booked the accomadation for The Outlaw, I managed to get 3 nights at the Travelodge for £20 what a Bargin. I will report back on this weeks training next Sunday after some long running.

Run Swim Bike Rained on

Monday night went for a 4 mile run at race pace to wake up the running legs, knee still giving me jip but managed to finish running. Tuesday woke up at 6am to pouring rain, left home on the bike to go swimming, put in some warm up lengths and then done a 400mtrs at race pace, 7m35s recorded, think that was right as counting laps is boring and I lose count at 10 when I run out of fingers. A coffee with Scottish then back home through the rain. get out of the wet cold cloths and into a nice hot bath, egg muffins and a coffee. Dont you just love training. Looking forward to the night ride on Thursday now.

Time to start training again

I have just been looking through the Forum at Triathlete world website and found a reply to my posting (I’m 50th on the waiting list for The Outlaw (Iron distance) Triathlon in July) to find out the I have a very good chance of making the starting line up. SHIT............................................ So what is The Outlaw. Its a 2.4mile swim, 112 mile bike race and a Marathon 26.2 miles. So I better start training for it hadn't I. The Outlaw is The Pirates 2012 championships so there will be 100s on and around the course. About PSOF The Runner’s World website started a triathlon forum in August 2003, after lots of members expressed an interest. That interest grew, and now the tri forum has its own instantly recognisable group of yellow-clad triathlete who compete in international Ironman events, originally one outing a year but now several – although the main one is a big group holiday event with its own awards ceremony post-race. So popular has the Pirate Ship of Fools become that smaller and shorter triathlon events too are beginning to take on a distinctly daffodil hue as the pirate influence spreads. As the Runner’s World online community grows, so does the number of runners that want to be triathlete, and the number of triathlete that want to be Pirates. But where did it all begin? Is it a club? No, but it is a group of loyal and like-minded people. Is it a joke? No, but it is a laugh. Is it an attitude? Yes. And that attitude echoes the Ironman brand – Anything is Possible – then adds its own rider, ‘if you believe in yourself’. But what sets the Pirates apart is their sense of fun. They have turned into a huge presence within the world of triathlon, a world that can sometimes appear to the newcomer to be a little po-faced. Commentators, organisers and crowds at Ironman events around the world acknowledge the yellow and black kit both on and off the course – the supporters’ wear their own pirate gear with pride and a great deal of noise. So My training for 2012 starts here. I have a busy week at work coming up so training will be light. Run 3 x 3 miles Swim 2 x 30 mins Bike 1 x 30 mins 1 x 60 mins I will report back with the weeks training results and anything else that pops up later in the week

Welcome back Mark, Portsmouth Coastal Marathon

Right ok, I haven't been posting on here well since my last post. 2012 is going to be full of Triathlons and runs. First of all I will start with my last event and then over the next few weeks while im filling in my training plans and events for 2012 I will bring you up to date with other events I have done in 2011. This includes the killer Ironman Wales, by the way I never made it all the way around but thats another posting. Portsmouth Coastal Marathon
In this photo Markthedrainman Darran (Scottish) Darran (English) This was my first marathon and I only decided to do it with 8 weeks training after the great south (10miler). Ok I know im a fool but I must be because last year I wanted to do a marathon and could only find one attached to an Ironman. So now I know I can finish a marathon im looking for another one to do. I know I can PB if I do another one, this time I will train longer and like before it will be attached to an Ironman. The Portsmouth Coastal Marathon started at the Pyramids centre Southsea and followed the coast around to Hayling Island, the route was well marked and plenty of marshalls along the route. The aid stations were well stocked and being in the last 10% ..........................ok 5% there was plenty left for me and my fellow laggers. Nice medals at the finish, free soup and a roll (wont bother next time yuck) and I think a tee shirt but I was too knackerd to notice. Very friendly banter from other runners and very good facilities. What else do you want a week before Christmas. Well some park runs and speed work to get my short distance speed up, back in the pool and on the bike as Im signing up for ironman Wales next week. Next event for me I think will be Wokingham Half then Reading Half. .................................................................................................................. Advertisment My website is www.sewage-treatment-plant.co.uk This year I am looking at installing more sewage treatment plants and septic tanks. I am also looking into septic tank conversion units. For more information take a look at the website.
